Pengaruh Penggunaan Media Sosial Terhadap Motivasi Dan Prestasi Belajar Siswa Pada Mata Pelajaran Ekonomi Di Pondok Pesantren Daarun Nahdhah Thawalib Bangkinang
This study aims to analyze the effect of using social media through learning motivation on improving student achievement in grades X and XI at the Daarun Nahdhah Thawalib Islamic Boarding School Bangkinang. The background of this research is the low learning achievement of students which is still below the KKM, the ability of students to absorb subject matter is still low, the large number of cottage subject matter that must be balanced with general subject matter, students often do not do assignments given by the teacher, do not focus on listening to the teacher's explanation and quickly give up if experiencing learning difficulties so that it can affect academic achievement. Factors that influence student achievement are internal factors and external factors. Internal factors are factors that come from within students including abilities, interests, talents, motivation. External factors are factors that come from outside the student including the family environment, school environment and community environment. Thus, one of these factors is learning motivation that comes from internal factors and the use of social media that comes from external factors.
The research approach used is descriptive quantitative with data collection techniques using questionnaires and documentation. Sampling used a saturated sample (Census) where all members of the population were used as samples with a total sample of 90 students who did not live in the dormitories. Data analysis used in this study is Partial Least Square (PLS) with outer model and inner model coefficient tests and with the help of the SmartPLS 3.0 program. From testing the outer model, the outer loading value is obtained which indicates that each item of indicator statement is said to be valid with each having a value of 0.50. To determine the reliability of each item from the variable indicators, it can be seen from the composite reliability value and each variable is reliable because the value of each indicator is above 0.70. Next to determine the value of the inner model to determine the effect of each variable and test the hypothesis by looking at the value in Bootsrepping.
The results of this study indicate that: 1) The use of social media affects student achievement by showing that the variable use of social media has a significance level of 0.000, which is less than 0.05 and the value of t table < t count (1.96 < 3.585). Utilization of social media carried out in order to improve student learning outcomes can produce a significant influence. This is intended so that students do not waste time just for entertainment, but can make more use of social media to find additional subject matter references, make it easier to complete school assignments or about anything, especially in economics subjects. 2) Social media has an effect on learning motivation with the value that the social media variable has a significance level of 0.000 which is less than 0.05 and the value of t table < t count (1.96 < 9.083). If students are able to use social media
properly which can foster enthusiasm in learning, it will increase their learning motivation. Social media can excite students' enthusiasm for learning with material that is difficult to understand, which can be helped by social media such as Youtube, which provides explanations of subject matter. The use of social media here means that students use social media to assist them in facilitating their learning activities, either in making it easier to do assignments from the teacher or obtaining additional information about the subject matter. 3) Learning motivation affects student achievement with the value that the learning motivation variable has a significance level of 0.000 which is less than 0.05 and the value of t table < t count (1.96 < 5.817). Teaching and learning activities are said to be successful if they are supported by high student motivation in learning. By having high motivation, a student is able to encourage himself to carry out learning activities. If student learning motivation is low, student achievement will also decrease. 4) the use of social media affects student achievement through learning motivation with a variable value of the use of social media has a significance level of 0.000 which is less than 0.05 and the value of t table < t count (1.96 < 4.427). students who use social media properly will increase learning motivation so that they will get high learning achievement so that in other words significantly the use of social media is able to influence learning achievement through learning motivation indirectly, which means learning achievement can be seen from social media formed by motivation to learn.
