Efek Pb Dan Cd Terhadap Pertumbuhan Cychlotella Sp.
Abstract
Heavy metals are generally a problem even at the world level as a threat to humans. Phytoplankton Cychlotella sp. are the main producer in the food chain in aquatic ecosystems. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the toxicity of heavy metals Pb and Cd on the growth of microalgae Cychlotella sp. and to compare the more toxic heavy metals expressed in 3 parameters, namely IC50-96 hours, NOEC-96 hours, and LOEC-96 hours. The study was conducted in March-April 2022. The toxicity test method used is Asean-Canada Cooperative Program on Marine Science Phase II (ACCPMS-II 1995). The results showed that IC50-96 hours of Pb and Cd on the growth of Cychlotella sp. is 0.029 mgL-1 and 0.053 mgL-1. NOEC-96 hours values of Pb and Cd on the growth of Cychlotella sp. is < 0.018 mgL-1 and < 0.032 mgL-1, respectively. LOEC-96 hours values of Pb and Cd on the growth of Cychlotella sp. is 0.018 mgL-1 and 0.032 mgL-1. Based on IC50-96 hours value, NOEC-96 hours and LOEC-96 hours can be concluded that Pb is more toxic to Cychlotella sp. than the Cd so that it can be used as a bioindicator of heavy metal pollution Pb.
