Biologi Reproduksi Ikan Alu-Alu (Sphyraena Spp.) Dari Perairan Sibolga Sumatera Utara
Abstract Sphyraena spp is a type of seawater fish that commonly inhabit the waters of Sibolga, North Sumatra. A study aims to understand the reproductive biology of Sphyraena Spp has been conducted. The fish was sampled 3 times, once/month, from May-July 2022. Parameters measured were sexual characteristics, sex ratio, gonad maturity level, gonad somatic index (GSI), fecundity and egg diameter. The results showed that there were 2 types of fish present, namely Sphyraena putnamae and Sphyraena obtusatta. The number of S.putnamae captured was 172 (154 males and 18 females, sex ratio of 8:1), while that of S.obtusatta was 73 (49 males and 24 females, sex ratio of 2:1). The average of GSI of S.putnamae was 3,08%, while that of S.obtusatta was 3,44%. The average fecundity of S.putnamae was 12.500-20.338 eggs/fish, while that of S.obtusatta fish was 18.277-20.133 eggs/fish. Egg diameter of both species was not different, ranged from 0.1-0.5 mm. The eggs were distributed evenly in the ovary, indicated that those fishes were whole spawner.
Keywords: Barakuda fish, sex ratio, gonad maturity level, gonad somatic index, fecundity, whole spawner.
