Pengembangan Perangkat Pembelajaran Matematika Dengan Penerapan Discovery Learning Untuk Memfasilitasi Kemampuan Komunikasi Matematis Pada Materi Aturan Sinus Dan Cosinus
This research is background by the low capability of students mathematic communication. One of the causes of them is the students are still shy and afraid to express their own opinion, they are not accustomed to having contextual questions, rarely to illustrate story questions into pictures questions or vice versa, careless in counting and seldom summarize what they have already found in their learning. The purpose of this research is to produce mathematics teaching equipment with the application of discovery learning method to facilitate the students mathematics communication ability on the learning topic about Sinus and Cosinus.
The type of research which is used development research. This research uses the development research of Borg and Gall with the steps : research and data collecting, planning, the development of draft product, the beginning test, revision, final product, decimation and Implementation. The instruments used are validation and practicality instrument. The collecting data techniques used are teaching equipment validation, distributing polling and interview. The data analyzing technique used is qualitative data analyzing based on the feed back and responses from the validators and quantitative data analyzing based on the percentage average which is obtained from the validators.
On the stage of research and data collecting was got from the interview result on the mathematics’ teachers who have problems in developing curriculum 13 at senior high schools in Rokan Hulu Regency. They have difficulty in arranging their curriculum 13 teaching equipment. The learning model that the teachers use are still not variation yet. The capability of the students mathematics communication is still low. They are still not accustomed to uncommon questions so that their mathematics idea cannot be conveyed. The result of the research of mathematics teaching equipment documentation that are used by the teachers, that is, the syllabus, not fulfilled the requirement yet. The lesson plans arranged are not in details for each meetings, the time allocation are not suitable with the reaching target of based competency, competency reaching indicator still cannot measure the reaching of based competency. The learning purposes has already contained with ABCD (audience, behavior, condition and degree), but still not specifically from the competency reaching indicator. The learning materials are not described for each meetings yet. The learning activities are adjusted tp the learning model used. The evaluation of studying result has not described the skill ability. The student worksheets used still cannot construct the knowledge yet.
The researcher analysis learning material about trigonometry, that is about the rules of Sinus and Cosinus. Based on the result of students characteristic analyzing in Senior High School 2 Rambah Hilir, know that the students do the learning activities well, but they are still less active in following the learning activities. They have difficulty in finding concept, finishing the
contextual questions and reflecting pictures as well finishing aljabar and also concluding what they have found. The design result is adjusted to discovery learning model to structure mathematics teaching equipment, such as syllabus, lesson plan and student worksheet. The result validation of experts state that the product which is developed reaches the valid category with average score for syllabus is 81.15% lesson plan is 83,71% and student worksheet is 83,43 %. The result of student worksheet readability is 88,16 % with very practicality category. So, the mathematics teaching equipment with discovery learning application can be used to facilitate mathematics communication ability on the learning material Sinus and Cosinus fulfills the validation criteria and very practice.
