Efektivitas Rumble Strips Dan Speed Bump Dalam Mereduksi Kecepatan Arus Lalu Lintas Di Jalan Lingkungan Universitas Riau
ABSTRACT
The operational speed characteristics of vehicles on the roads in the Riau University environment are quite high. This causes the probability of a traffic accident to increase. The traffic safety tool that has been implemented on the Riau University environmental road is the installation of traffic slowing devices in the form of Rumble Strips and Speed Bumps. This study aims to identify the effectiveness of installing rumble strips and speed bumps in reducing vehicle speed on the roads in the Riau University environment. Data collection was carried out over 3 working days, namely Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 3 points of rumble strips and speed bumps. Data collection was carried out at 07.00 WIB - 08.00 WIB, 09.00 WIB - 10.00 WIB, 12.00 WIB - 13.00 WIB, and 16.00 WIB - 17.00 WIB. Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that for rumble strips on Muchtar Lutfi Street, the average speed of motorcycles (MC) and light vehicles (LV) decreased by 21.79% and 23.87%. For rumble strips on the road beside the Rector's Mosque, the average MC speed increased by 1.00% and LV decreased by 8.03%. For rumble strips on the road in front of Faperta, the average MC and LV speeds decreased by 9.64% and 14.86%. As for the speed bumps on the road in front of the Digital Park, the average MC and LV speeds decreased by 35.35% and 43.09%. For speed bumps on the road beside the Language UPT, the average MC and LV speeds decreased by 15.76% and 11.85%. For speed bumps on Muchtar Lutfi Street, the average MC and LV speeds decreased by 11.67% and 7.59%. The handling due to the increase in average vehicle speed after passing rumble strips at each location includes improving the design of rumble strips, adding warning signs, emblem markings, and implementing other traffic calming.
