NUTRITIONAL STATUS IN POST MAJOR SURGICAL CHILDREN AT PICU ARIFIN ACHMAD HOSPITAL, RIAU PROVINCE

Child after major surgery will generally be treated in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Infants and children may be at risk of morbidity and mortality due to cumulative nutritional deficiencies during their stay in the PICU. The aim of this study was to determine the nutritional status of postoperative children admitted to the PICU. This type of research is a prospective descriptive with a cross-sectional approach. This research was conducted at the PICU of Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province from February to March 2022 with the total sampling method. The results of this study on 15 patients showed that most of the children aged 5 -11 years (60.0%) with normal nutritional status and overweight (33.3%); male (73.3%) with normal nutritional status, overweight and obesity (27.3%); surgery in the head area (73.3%) with overweight nutritional status (44.4%); duration of operation ≤120 minutes (66.7%) with overweight nutritional status (40.0%).
