ACHMAD HOSPITAL RIAU PROVINCE ON AUGUST 2019 - AUGUST 2022

Background: The increasing cases of trauma and malignancy that occur often
causes wide and complex defects. The increasing wide and complex defects require
microsurgical reconstruction to improve the patient’s function and quality of life.
One of the modalities used is free flap.
Objectives: To determine the description of reconstruction with free flap at Arifin
Achmad hospital
Methods: This research used a cross sectional study method which was carried out
at Arifin Achmad Hospital Riau from November to December 2022.
Results: From the 41 samples obtained based om characteristics of the patient the
highest age groups were adults (26-45 years) 20 patients (48.8%), men 24 patients
with a percentage 58,5% and women 17 patients with percentage 41.5%, without
comorbidities were 37 patients (90.2%), the highest cases were malignancy 22
patients (53.7%) and the length of stay was 1 week-1 month with 37 patients
(90.2%). Based on the characteristics of the procedure the most types of flap were
fibular free flap 20 patients (48.8%), the duration of surgery was > 4 hours 40
patients (97.6%), 6 procedures (14.6%) were carried out take back/salvaging and
the survival flap were 35 procedures (85.4%). There was no relationship between
survival flap with age (p=0.147), comorbidities (p=1) and duration of surgery
(p=1).
