PROFILE OF CASE OF DISASTER VICTIM IDENTIFICATION
HANDLING IN MEDICINE AND HEALTH AT THE
BHAYANGKARA HOSPITAL IN PEKANBARU

Disaster victim identification (DVI) is a method that describes a step in the
process of determining the identity of victims who died as a result of a large-scale
disaster that still requires scientific explanation and follows Interpol standards.
There are two kinds of identification methods with DVI, namely primary and
secondary identification. The purpose of this study was to determine the profile of
cases of handling Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) in the area of medicine and
health at Bhayangkara Hospital Pekanbaru. The research design used is a
retrospective descriptive study using secondary data in the form of an antemortem
form, a postmortem form, and a VeR request letter at Bhayangkara Hospital with
a sample of 8 cases with 43 victims. The results showed that most of the victims of
DVI cases were male, namely 30 people (69.8%). The highest age occurred in the
age range of 17-25 years as many as 13 (30.2%). The most frequently used DVI
method is the primary method, namely 23 people (53.4%). The type of
examination that is most widely used in the primary method is DNA examination
(72.1%), while the type of examination that is most widely used in the second
method is mixed examination (27.9%). The origin of police who asked for Visum
et Repertum the most were victims of the DVI case, namely the Bengkalis resort
police with 21 victims (48.8%).
