Kaji Eksperimental Pengaruh Variasi Penambahan Poly Alpha Olefin Terhadap Laju Keausan Dan Koefisien Gesek Pada Wet Contact Double Disc Dengan Menggunakan Rbd Palm Olein
ABSTRACT
Lubricant is an important thing in the working system of the machining. Without the use of lubricants, it will cause friction and cause wear and tear so that energy is wasted and component life is reduced. The types of lubricants that are widely used are synthetic lubricants and mineral oil which are difficult to decompose by the environment, causing environmental damage, and their sources are non-renewable. To overcome this, the vegetable oil used is palm oil which is mostly produced in the Riau region and can be used as an alternative for biolubricant materials because it is environmentally friendly, renewable, has a high viscosity index, and has good lubricating properties. However, vegetable oil has limitations such as: low oxidation stability, which affects the level of wear and friction. To improve the tribological properties of vegetable oil, synthetic oil is used, namely Poly Alpha Olefin (PAO) as an additive. So this study aims to compare the tribology of adding PAO oil to palm oil. Tribological testing was carried out using a double disc tribometer. In the test results of 100% palm oil, the maximum wear rate is 8.22572 and the friction coefficient value is 7.59433 .. In a mixture of 90% palm oil with 10% PAO, the highest wear rate was 3.79347 and the highest friction coefficient value was 8.91503 . In 80% palm oil with 20% PAO, the maximum wear rate is 3.41366 and the highest friction coefficient value is 8.78689 . And in the dry contact test, the wear rate is the greatest 7.03553 and the friction coefficient value is the greatest 7.64475 .
