Skin diseases are still one of the important issues found in tropical countries because there are quite a lot of sufferers. One of the skin diseases that is commonly happening is dermatophytosis. Dermatophytosis is a superficial mycotic disease caused by fungi that invade keratin-containing tissues such as the stratum corneum of the epidermis, hairs, and nails. The number of complaints on the skin that cause dermatophytosis can be influenced by many factors, but the most important factor is personal hygiene, along with supporting factors that is the dense environment in boarding schools or dormitories. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between personal hygiene and the incidence of dermatophytosis in female students at Al- Jauhar Bengkalis Islamic Boarding School, Riau Province. The design of the research was an analytic cross sectional, with a minimum sample of 191 female students. The results of this study indicated that most of the personal hygiene of female students at Al- Jauhar Bengkalis Islamic Boarding School was not good (74.7%). The incidence of dermatophytosis in female students at Al- Jauhar Bengkalis Islamic boarding school students was 23.1%. The most types of dermatophytosis found in female students at Al- Jauhar Bengkalis was tinea cruris (46.98%), and for the results of the analysis using the chi-square test regarding the relationship between personal hygiene and the incidence of dermatophytosis in female students at Al- Jauhar Bengkalis showed no significant relationship (p=0.308).
