Sonneratia alba mangroves are plants with high antioxidant content including alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolics, tannins and steroids. In this study, we will analyze the effect of Sonneratia alba mangrove fruit extract on Malondialdehyde (MDA) levels in the plasma of rats fed a high-fat diet. A total of 16 plasma taken from the blood of male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) Wistar strain were divided into 3 groups: the standard group (KS) which was only given a normal diet, the positive control group (KP) which was given an atherogenic diet and the treatment group (KT) which was given a normal diet. high-fat diet and Sonneratia alba mangrove fruit extract. The effect of Sonneratia alba mangrove fruit extract on plasma MDA levels was assessed by spectrophotometric examination using the enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique. Plasma MDA levels are assessed from the absorbance of the sample. Rat plasma MDA levels expressed in nmol/ml. Plasma MDA levels were examined using the MultiSkan Sky microplate reader. The results of this study showed that the average plasma MDA levels of rats in the S, P and T groups were (2.454+1.43), (1.380+0.75) and (2.483+1.50), respectively. Statistical analysis with One Way Anova showed no significant difference (p = 0.267). Based on these results it can be concluded that Sonneratia alba mangrove fruit extract was unable to suppress plasma MDA levels of rats fed a high-fat diet.
