Learning in the 221st century requires students to develop scientific discipline skills, metacognitive skills, critical and creative thinking, and effective communication or collaboration. One of the 21st century learning goals focuses on developing students' ability to think critically. Achieving learning goals that improve critical thinking skills must be consistent with learning that trains students to think critically. Researchers have identified problems in learning in the SMAN 1 Minas school. Based on the results of a student needs analysis conducted through observations in the SMAN 1 Minas, the student worksheet materials from the teacher's consultation of the subjects used in the learning process are designed in such a way that they are accomplished. I know it's not implemented yet. Impact on students' critical thinking skills.
Critical thinking is related to students' motivation to learn. Highly motivated students develop strong critical thinking skills. In other words, increased motivation to learn influences higher critical thinking skills. Based on this, the researchers conducted an analysis of the critical thinking skills and learning motivations of her MIPA Class X students in her KD 3.10 on Ecosystems. Observations and interviews show that students' critical thinking ability and motivation to learn are low. The materials used for student worksheets from the consultation of expert teachers are not very engaging and students are not trained to think critically. Data analysis results of students' daily test scores showed an average of 59.11 in the fair category. Ecosystem materials are materials that have not reached KKM 70. On the other hand, as a result of analyzing the data of the survey on the willingness to learn, it was found that motivation was low with an average of 48.69.
Based on the results of the above needs analysis, it is necessary to develop teaching materials to improve students' critical thinking ability and motivation to learn. Researchers offer solutions to innovate educational materials through the development of research-based student worksheets on ecosystem materials.
This research consists of two phases. That is, the first phase of using research and development with an ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation) approach to create worksheets for students. Phase 2 of the experiment at SMAN 1 Minas. In the analysis phase, curriculum analysis, needs analysis, material analysis, and material analysis were conducted. The design phase involved designing research worksheets and learning tools. The development phase included exploratory validity tests, lesson plans and research tools, utility tests, and limited trials. Next is the implementation phase of the experimental method using a pre-test and post-test design consisting of control and experimental classes, and determination by normality and uniformity tests. The final phase is the overall evaluation of the results of the question-based student worksheet development.

Three validators (one pedagogy expert, one materials expert, and one media expert) will be involved in the validation phase of the survey-based student worksheets. Two teachers and her five students from SMA/MA Minas participated in the practical exam. Expert feasibility assessment using validation sheets. Assess the utility of survey-based student worksheets using survey responses, utility tests, and limited student experiments. Data analysis used descriptive analysis supported by Microsoft Office Excel 2010. In the experimental phase, we checked the impact of the student survey worksheets we created on students' critical thinking ability and motivation to learn. As a result, the student worksheets during the study were rated very well. This is based on test results that pedagogy professionals achieved an average of 3.14 valid categories, materials professionals an average of 3.77 highly valid categories, and media professionals an average of 3.83 highly valid categories. it is clear. Next, the results of the on-demand practicality test scored an average of 92.83 in the very practical category and the student response test scored 85.7 in the very good category. Results of a limited trial of student worksheets asking questions showed an average of 85.69 in the very good category.
The pre- and post-learning critical thinking skills of students in the control class ranged from an average of 43.90 in the non-critical category to a very significant 61.91. On the other hand, students' critical thinking skills before and after using the survey worksheet averaged from 53.11 in the less important category to 83.12 in the very important category.
The learning motivation of control class students before and after learning obtained an average of 58.9 with the less motivated category being 68 motivated categories. While the learning motivation of experimental class students before and after using inquiry-based worksheets obtained an average of 59.7 with the less motivated category being 82.8 highly motivated categories.
The conclusion of the research results indicates that the development of a research-based student worksheet can improve the critical thinking skills and learning motivation of Grade X students. Based on the average scores of the experimental classes, they are higher than the scores of the control classes. The t-test results concluded that developing question-based student worksheets was effective in improving students' critical thinking skills and motivation to learn, with significance (two-tailed) < 0.000 . was 0.005.
