Background: Double-J (DJ) stent is a catheter placed in the lumen of the ureter anterograde or retrograde, the purpose of which is to maintain the patency of the ureter. Obstruction of the ureters can be caused by urinary tract stones. In Indonesia, urinary tract stone problems still occupy the most frequent cases among all urological cases. The procedure of removing a DJ stent using cytoscopy can cause pain in the patient. Men feel more pain because their urethra is longer so it is much more sensitive than women. VAS is a pain scale that is easy to manage and provides accurate information about the patient's status.
Objective: Identify pain felt by local anesthesia stent aff DJ patients using VAS values at Arifin Achmad Riau Hospital for the period of October 2022-December 2022.
Method: This study is an observational analytic conducted at SMF Urological Surgery, Arifin Achmad Hospital Pekanbaru. Data were obtained from the results of interviews of patients who performed DJ stent removal surgery, with a total of 40 patients. Age, gender, ethnicity, length of time installed DJ stent, installation location, and DJ stent installation indication are included as variables.
