Polycystic ovary syndrome has a multifactorial pathophysiology involving endocrine, metabolic, and genetic factors. The increasing prevalence of PCOS is associated with various risk factors. Risk factors that have been identified include family history of PCOS, family history of diabetes mellitus, anogenital distance (AGD), age at menarche, regularity of menstrual cycle, body mass index (BMI), abdominal circumference, and insulin resistance.
In general, this study aims to analyze the risk factors for PCOS and the specific objectives are to analyze the risk factors that have been identified with the incidence of PCOS in Riau Province and to analyze the most dominant risk factors as one of the modalities in establishing an earlier diagnosis of PCOS in patients at risk.
This research is an analytic study with a case-control design of all infertile patients diagnosed with PCOS and non-PCOS who seek treatment at the obstetrics and fertility polyclinic at Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province, based on medical record data from January 2020 to November 2022 and met predetermined inclusion criteria.
