Analisis Korelasi Dan Sidik Lintas Beberapa Karakter Kuantitatif Tanaman Cabai (Capsicum Annuum L.) Terhadap Daya Hasil Pada Lahan Gambut
ABSTRACT
Chili plants have high economic value. Increasing chili production in Riau can be done using peatlands, but peatlands can cause less than optimal plant growth. Efforts to improve chili production can be performed through plant breeding efforts. Selection is an important step in a plant breeding program. Selection is divided into two based on the character of the purpose of the selection, namely direct selection and indirect selection. The indirect selection method is correlation analysis and path. This study used a randomized block design with eight genotypes and three replications. The results of analysis of variance of the 12 quantitative characters were very significantly different, namely dichotomous height, fruit stalk length, fruit flesh thickness, fruit diameter and fruit weight and significantly different in plant height and fruit weight characters per plant. The results of the correlation analysis showed a very significant positive relationship, namely the character weight per fruit of 0,771 g, fruit length of 0,585 g and fruit diameter of 0,525 g to fruit weight per plant. The results of the path analysis showed that the character weight per fruit had a direct effect on fruit weight per plant, while the character fruit length and fruit diameter had an indirect effect through fruit weight on fruit weight per plant. The weight per fruit character is suggested as a selection criterion for chili plants. Characters of fruit diameter and fruit length can be considered as selection criteria for chili plants. Further research is needed to get maximum chili results.
