Implementasi Pendidikan Karakter Dalampembelajaran Sejarah Di SMA Negeri 5 Pekanbaru
Education is an activity that has been going on for centuries in society. It is even
believed that education has been going on since humans existed in order to know themselves
and their environment in order to advance their civilization towards a better one. Character
education is a form of embodiment of the results of the National Program organized by the
Ministry of National Education on January 14 2010 as a national movement. Learning history
is an important component of the educational activity system, wherein learning history is an
effective means of increasing integrity and personality. nation through a teaching-learning
process in a simpler context, so far character education has only been imposed on two
subjects, namely Religion and Citizenship Education (PKN), especially those related to the
morals and character of students. Therefore by incorporating character education into history
subjects will encourage the formation of the character itself, plus class X students who are
still in a transitional period from J unior High School (SMP) to High School (SMA) level,
and also Seeing the current conditions, learning activities are only entering the limited faceto-
face learning stage. This means that while Covid-19 hit Indonesia, students carried out
learning activities online or in the network, this of course caused character education in
schools to not be optimal. In addition, when only relying on the formation of students'
character only through learning Religion and Citizenship Education (PKN) it is not enough.
Thus, the author is interested in writing a study on this character education. Many factors
became the driving force in the making of this writing, including the Pekanbaru 5 Public
High School being studied in Pekanbaru, not much has been looked at by other researchers in
terms of the character education context in learning history, therefore the author chose
Pekanbaru 5 Public High School. The objectives of this study are 1) Knowing the planning of
history teachers in carrying out character education at SMA Negeri 5 Pekanbaru 2) Knowing
the implementation of character education in learning history at SMA Negeri 5 Pekanbaru 3)
Knowing the evaluation of history teachers when implementing character education in history
learning that was developed by teachers who are oriented towards character education at
SMA Negeri 5 Pekanbaru. In this study researchers used qualitative methods. During the
transition period, character education at SMA Negeri 5 Pekanbaru has been carried out, but of
the eighteen indicators, only nine indicators were implemented.
