Abstract Belat catches is a fishing gear that relies on the influence of river tides. The waters of the Siak River are the place where the splint fishing gear operates. Local fishermen have been fishing using splint gear in Benayah Village for a long time, but information about the shape of splint construction and the composition of catches on splint gear has not been published much. The method used is a quantitative descriptive method, namely examining the situation or object with the aim of getting an overview of the situation or object under study. The splint fishing gear in Benayah Village has a semicircular shape and a mesh size of 0.8 inches so it is classified as a non-selective fishing gear for the size of the type of fish caught. There were 15 types of fish caught, the highest percentage of fish species caught was juaro fish at 32.9% and the smallest percentage was sepat fish at 0.03% In general, the main catch of fish caught using splint fishing gear was 72 ,34 %. while bycatch was 27.66%. For the body size of the net used for splint fishing gear operated in Benayah Village, it should use a size of 1 inch according to FAO guidelines for criteria for environmentally friendly fishing gear.
