Abstract
One of the village in Sungai Apit District is Rawa Mekar Jaya Village. Desa Rawa Mekar Jaya has an area of about 16,000 ha, with a mangrove forest area of about 25 ha. Rawa Mekar Jaya, as one of the mangrove growth areas, is thought to have provided a sufficient supply of litter for aquatic organisms. This study aims to determine litter production and litter decomposition rate in mangrove ecosystems in Rawa Mekar Jaya Village, Sungai Apit District, Siak Regency, Riau Province. This research was conducted in February 2022. Litter sampling is carried out by the transect line method. The results showed that the productivity of the mangrove forest litter in Rawa Mekar Jaya Village was 32.88 g/m2/day, where the leaf organs contributed the most, 27.82 g/m2/day, followed by branches, 2.25 g/m2/day, and flowers. and fruit 2.81 g/m2/day. The rate of decomposition of mangrove leaf litter during the study showed that station 3 had a faster decomposition rate of 0.37 g/day compared to station 1, which was 0.25 g/day and station 2, which was 0.29 g/day.
