Karakteristik Briket Arang Kulit Jengkol Dengan Penambahan Arang Cangkang Biji Karet
ABSTRACT
Jengkol shell and rubber seed shell are biomass wastes that can be utilized in the form of charcoal briquettes as an alternative energy source. The aim of this study was to obtain the best briquette characteristics from a combination of jengkol shell charcoal and rubber seed shell charcoal. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) which consisted of five treatments and three replications. The treatment in this study included comparisons of jengkol shell and rubber seed shell charcoal 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, 60:40 and 50:50. Data were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued with Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5% level. The results of the analysis showed that the ratio of jengkol shell charcoal and rubber seed shell charcoal had an effect on density, moisture content, fixed carbon content, ash content, and calorific value. The best treatment was briquettes (50:50) with a density content of 0.72 g/cm3, a moisture content of 6.35%, a volatile content of 11.04%, an ash content of 5.76%, a carbon content of 76,83% and a calorific value of 6 .5707 cal/g.
