ABSTRACT
Ferns are pioneer plants that live in every type of forest area and play an important function and role in compiling the balance of forest ecosystems, such as ground cover vegetation, and litter mixture to form soil nutrients and producers in the food chain, besides acting as a source of germplasm. also serves as a source of food and medicine. One of the fern habitats that has never been reviewed is the Ghimbo Pomuan Indigenous Forest. This study aims to determine the types of ferns and to analyze the vegetation around the ferns. Field data collection uses exploratory or roaming methods. Retrieval of data on fern habitat vegetation using the quadratic method measuring 20x20 m as many as 5 plots in each lane. The data obtained in the field are the types of ferns, morphological characteristics, and vegetation analysis. The Ghimbo Pomuan Customary Forest Area found 33 types of fern bodies from 14 families and 5 orders. There were 18 species of fern in terrestrial habitats, 9 species of epiphytic habitats, and 6 species of ferns living in both epiphytic and terrestrial habitats. 13 types of host plants grow as epiphytes on host plants and the highest dominance of supporting plants is on Pulaui (Alstonia scholaris) and Kempas (Koompassia malacaccensis).
