House dust mites are essential in causing allergic diseases such as asthma, allergic rhinitis and atopic dermatitis. In contrast, the main factors affecting house dust mites' growth and development are temperature, humidity, food availability and geographical location. The purpose of this study was to describe the presence of house dust mites, the locations where house dust mites were found and the density of house dust mites in students' homes at SDN 009 Petapahan, Gunung Toar District, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province. This research uses direct microscopy examination on 118 samples taken from two locations, namely the bedrooms and living rooms of 59 students' homes, randomly selected. House dust mites are identified using a light microscope. The results showed that 44 out of 118 samples were positive for house dust mites. Of the 44 positive samples in this study, it was found that positive house dust mites were more commonly found in bedroom locations, namely as many as 23 samples, while in the family room, there were 21 samples and the density of house dust mites was found to be higher in the bedroom than in the living room, with a density of house dust mites. In the bedroom is 12.5 mites/gram of dust, the density of house dust mites in the living room is 10.37 mites/gram of dust, with a total density of house dust mites as a whole, is 11.53 mites/gram of dust. From the results of this study, it was concluded that the most common location for house dust mites to be found was the bedroom compared to the living room, and the density of house dust mites was higher in the bedroom than in the living room.
