Modalitas Epistemik Dalam Bahasa Melayu Riau Dialek Kampar Di Desa Senama Nenek

This study describes and analyzes the form of expression, meaning, and
function of epistemic modality in the Kampar dialect of Riau Malay in Senama
Nenek Village. This research is a qualitative research using qualitative descriptive
method. The data is in the form of daily utterances of the people of Senama Nenek
Village in the Kampar dialect of Riau Malay which contains epistemic modalities.
Data collection techniques in this study are observation techniques, guided
interview techniques, recording techniques, and note-taking techniques. The
analysis technique used is data reduction technique, data presentation, as well as
verification and drawing conclusions. Based on the research results, it was found:
(1) the form of disclosure was ‘dapek’, ‘bisa’, ‘bulioh’, ‘gak a’, ‘bisa jadi’, ‘bulioh
jadi’, ‘kan’, ‘sangko’, ‘pikir’, ‘aso’, ‘dugo’, ‘measo’, ‘nampaknyo’, ‘asonyo’,
‘manuwuik deyen’, ‘wajib’, ‘parolu’, ‘patuik’, ‘eloknyo’, ‘lobioh ancak’,
‘sepatuiknyo’, ‘harusnyo’, ‘mestinyo’, ‘yokin’, ‘picayo’, ‘pasti’, and ‘pastila’; (2)
the meaning of modality, namely the meaning of 'possibility', the meaning of
'predictability', the meaning of 'must', and the meaning of 'certainty'; (3) the
functions of epistemic modality are tone modifier, attitude statement, expressive of
indicative mood, expressive of imperative mood, and expressive of optative mood.
