Validasi Empiris Video Animasi Listrik Statis Dalam Meningkatkan Kemampuan Kognitif Fisika Siswa SMPN 1 Pangkalan Susu, Langkat Sumatera Utara
The main problem of Science learning was caused by the low absorption of students in cognitive abilities, as seen from the students’ low learning outcomes. Depending on this condition, the results showed that the responses of students were passive and got difficulties to solve problems in their learning, where the teachers still used the lecturing method as a learning resource. The Discovery Learning model was very effective in overcoming the students’ issues because this learning model utilized media in the form of static electricity animated videos that improved the cognitive physics abilities of Junior High School students and saw practically a medium used in learning. This present study aimed to determine students' and teachers' perceptions of static electricity animation videos, and described students' cognitive abilities after learning using static electricity animation videos. The type of research used was Pre-Experiment with a One Shot Case Study design, namely a group was given treatment and then the results were observed (test in the form of a Posttest). The research sample consisted of 31 students in class IX-6 who were selected. For the research data, researchers provided questionnaire sheets that had been validated by experts as a research instrument to collect teacher and student responses regarding the practicality of the media with 10 practicality indicators and gave 20 questions in the post-test which were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that based on teacher responses, the average media practicality level was 3.7 very high categories, meanwhile based on student responses, the average media practicality level was 3.5 very high categories, so the static electricity animation video learning media was very valid and practically used by teachers and students in the process learning. According to Anderson and Krathwohl taxonomy, the results showed that the students’cognitive abilities got average 82.2 as the good category. From this current study, it could be concluded that static electricity animation video learning media could improve students' cognitive abilities and was practically used in static electricity learning class IX-6 at SMPN 1 Pangkalan Susu.
