Self Efficacy, Self Resilience Dan Learning Loss Mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi Fkip Universitas Riau
Online learning conducted during the covid 19 pandemic caused several
obstacles for students in the lecture process such as unsupportive learning facilities,
low interaction between lecturers and students and an unfavorable learning
environment. These obstacles that arise cause learning setbacks or learning loss in
students. Learning loss is closely related to students' confidence in learning or called
self efficacy and self resilience owned by students. The results of a pre-survey to
Biology Education students found that students experienced several obstacles
during online learning such as gaps in learning facilities, unstable internet network
conditions that made students not optimally listen to lecturers' explanations and a
sense of reluctance and embarrassment for students when they wanted to ask
questions related to material that was not understood. These obstacles lead students
to learning loss. Based on the results of the pre-survey, the purpose of this study
was to determine the characteristics of the relationship between Learning Loss with
Self Efficacy and Self Resilience of Biology Education Students of FKIP Riau
University. This study aims to explore the extent to which self efficacy and self
resilience affect learning loss.
To achieve these objectives, a quantitative approach and survey method were
applied in this cross section study. This research was conducted in December 2022
- March 2023 and was conducted on Biology Education students in the 2019, 2020
and 2021 batches where these three batches experienced the longest impact of the
covid 19 pandemic. This research is descriptive research using a quantitative
approach with a survey method. To achieve these objectives, quantitative
approaches and survey methods are applied in this cross section research. The
variables raised in this study include independent variables (X) and dependent
variables (Y1 and Y2). The independent variable (X) in this study is learning loss.
The dependent variable Y1 includes self efficacy while the dependent variable Y2
is related to self resilience owned by Biology Education students at Riau University.
The data in this study were obtained from distributing questionnaires and interview
sheets to students. The data that has been collected then analyzed using validity test,
reliability test, normality test, descriptive analysis, multiple linear regression test,
coefficient of determination analysis and effective contribution analysis.
The results showed that the condition of learning loss experienced by Biology
Education students was in the moderate category. The biggest learning loss is
experienced by Biology Education students in learning that involves practicum
activities with aspects of understanding and ability. Not doing practicum during
online learning makes students not have basic skills in doing practicum and are not
used to doing practicum activities. Self Efficacy owned by Biology Education
students at Riau University is classified as moderate with the highest characteristics
in the sub-variables of strength and generally. However, students are still low in the
magnitude sub variable where students still have difficulty managing and
organizing their study time and have difficulty controlling themselves in learning.
xiii
The level of self resilience possessed by Biology Education Students is in the high
category, especially in the realistic optimism and reaching out sub variables.
Overall, this study concluded that there is a significant influence
simultaneously between self efficacy and self resilience on student learning loss.
Self efficacy has a higher effective contribution to student learning loss with a value
of 18.6% while self resilience is only 1.8%. This result shows that self efficacy is
more dominant in influencing student learning loss than self resilience. Gaps in
facilities, unstable internet network conditions, too short learning time and low
interaction between lecturers and students are a number of factors that cause
learning loss in students during distance learning.
