BARU VILLAGE, PELALAWAN DISTRICT, RIAU PROVINCE

House dust for certain groups of people is an important component of
inhaled allergens, because it plays a role in causing allergic reactions. There are
house dust mites (HDM) which are microorganisms measuring 0.2-1.2 mm.
Allergies come from mite droppings that enter the human body through breathing
which can cause allergic diseases such as rhinitis, atopic dermatitis and
bronchial asthma. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics
of the respondents, the presence and risk factors for house dust mites in Kampung
Baru Village, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province. The research method is a
descriptive with a cross-sectional approach. This study used the floating
technique on 134 samples taken from the beds, walls and floors of the house. By
using the direct microscopy examination method, the HDM was found to be
43.3% and the risk factors for HDM in Kampung Baru village were the type of
permanent house wall 83.6%, the type of tiled house floor 76.9%, the area of good
ventilation, 70.9%, which not having pets 90.3%, frequency of cleaning the bed
properly 58.2% and types of unnatural bedding 85.8%. HDM is more commonly
found in non-permanent house wall types, non-tiled floor types, poor ventilation
areas, people who have pets, poor bed cleaning frequency and natural bed types.
