ABSTRACT
Uncontrolled burning causes extensive fires and can degrade environmental quality. The cause of fires that often occur is caused by community activities that clear land by burning. The government has encouraged community participation in preventing and combating forest and land fires through the establishment of Fire Care Community (MPA) groups. This study aims to determine the role of the community in controlling forest and land fires in Bloating Baru Village, Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency. The data collection method is carried out qualitatively by observation techniques, in-depth interviews and literature studies. The data is analyzed in a qualitative descriptive manner. The results showed that the role of the community in controlling forest and land fires in Bloating Baru Village, Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency was to coordinate with the Fire Care Community regarding information on forest and land fires that occurred and the community helped extinguish the fire in accordance with the direction given by MPA.
