Analisis Kinerja Teknik Hybrid Modulation Pada Sistem Komunikasi Radio Over Fiber (Rof)
ABSTRACT
The telecommunications sector has been continuously developing and expanding each year, making it an indispensable part of everyday operations. Radio Over Fiber (ROF) is a combination of a radio network and an optical fiber cable system that provides a solution for high-speed data transmission with broad coverage, high bit rate, and large bandwidth. Hybrid modulation techniques can be employed in ROF network systems to enhance the quality and reliability of wireless signals transmitted through the network. Therefore, the aim of this research is to design a model of hybrid modulation techniques, namely ASK-FM, ASK-PM, FSK-AM, FSK-PM, PSK-AM, and PSK-FM, in the Radio Over Fiber network system for Wireless Gigabit (WiGig) applications using Optisystem software. In this study, a ROF network system is designed with hybrid modulation techniques, namely ASK-FM, ASK-PM, FSK-AM, FSK-PM, PSK-AM, and PSK-FM, simulated at various transmission distances ranging from 0km to the maximum working distance of the system, with a step of 1km. This is done to evaluate the performance of each modulation technique within the transmission distance limitations. Subsequently, a performance comparison of each hybrid modulation technique is conducted to determine the best modulation technique for the ROF network system. Parameters such as Oscilloscope Visualizer, Bit Error Rate (BER), Q-Factor, and Eye Diagram are considered in assessing the system's performance. The standard used is ITU.T, with the requirement that the BER parameter should be ≤10-9 and the Q-Factor should be ≥6. Among the designed hybrid modulation techniques, the PSK-AM modulation technique outperforms other hybrid modulation techniques, achieving the farthest transmission distance of 111km, with a BER of 3.439e x 10-10 and a Q-Factor of 6.16421. The utilization of hybrid modulation techniques in the ROF network system can improve system performance, especially for shorter transmission distances. When the results meet the specified standards, it can be concluded that the designed system is operating effectively.
