ABSTRACT
Military communication plays a crucial role in maintaining the security and smooth running of a country's military operations. In Indonesia, the development of military communications is currently experiencing significant progress. Military radio communication has also experienced many developments because modern warfare cannot be separated from the support of advances in communication technology. Without communication, it would be difficult to conduct coordinated operations or successfully complete the mission. Today, a good communication system is indispensable in the management of combat systems both on the side of soldiers in the field and at the Command Post where operations are ordered and controlled. In a radio communication system, an antenna is needed so that the frequency reaches the target correctly. The antenna frequency used in this research is Very High Frequency (VHF) for military radio communication, using aluminum material with a diameter of 10 mm. VHF antenna simulation results using CST Microwave Studio show the antenna working range from 43 to 57 MHz with a bandwidth of 14 MHz and a gain of 2.14 dBi. After fabrication, a bandwidth of 22.8MHz was obtained with a frequency range of 37.7 MHz to 60.5 MHz with a return loss of -28.33 dB at 50.1 MHz. The antenna can transmit radio waves for good communication up to a distance of 630 meters with obstacles of buildings, trees and passing vehicles.
