ABSTRACT
Electricity energy is a fundamental necessity in the modern era. However, there is a lack of awareness regarding accurate power consumption, resulting in difficulties in managing financial aspects, particularly electricity payments. To address this issue, an effective device is required to monitor and control electricity usage. This research focuses on the development of an IoT (Internet of Things)-based electricity monitoring device. The device is connected to the Adafruit IO IoT platform through NodeMCU, enabling remote online monitoring. It is designed to monitor the usage of electrical appliances, allowing users to optimize their electricity consumption. The electricity monitoring device consists of components such as PZEM-004T module with sensors for voltage, current, and power, equipped with a 2x16 LCD screen, Arduino, and NodeMCU. The device calculates and monitors electricity usage by processing the data of current and voltage. Additionally, it estimates the cost of electricity usage by multiplying the energy consumed per second with the cost per kWh. It is expected that this electricity monitoring device will encourage more efficient and economical electricity usage.
