CHARACTERISTICS OF PRIAPISM PATIENTS AT ARIFIN ACHMAD HOSPITAL RIAU PERIOD 2017-2021

Background : Priapism is a persistent penile erection that lasts more than 4 hours, priapism can be preceded by sexual desire or without sexual desire, priapism is one of the urological emergencies that must be managed properly and quickly. If not treated properly and quickly, priapism can cause erectile dysfunction which will interfere with the patient's quality of life.
Objective : To find out the description of the characteristics of Priapism patients at Arifin Achmad Pekanbaru Hospital in 2017-2021.
Methods : This research used a total sampling was conducted at Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province from January 2023 to February 2023.
Results : From 7 patients with priapism who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, it was found that the most age group came from the 36-45 year age group with 3 people (42.9%). History of disease in patients with most priapism is leukemia as many as 3 people (42.9%). Classification of ischemic priapism was 4 people (57.1%) and non-ischemic priapism was 3 people (42.9%) and all management of priapism patients was carried out by surgery (100%).
