Kaji Eksperimental Sistem Menajemen Termal Baterai Kendaraan Listrik Menggunakan Pipa Kalor Dan Phase Change Material (Pcm)
ABSTRACT
A battery is a device for storing energy and releasing it in the form of electric power. It plays an important role in the operation of electric cars as the main energy source, High working temperatures in batteries can cause thermal runaway, decreased battery capacity, Therefore, a thermal management system is needed to maintain the temperature of the battery when operated in electric vehicles, and is able to improve the efficiency of battery performance. In this study, a battery simulator made of aluminum and heat pipes with a diameter of 6.35 mm and a length of 200 mm and the use of a type of Phase Change Material, namely paraffin wax. The experimental method was carried out to determine the effect of using heat pipes and paraffin wax on temperature changes in electric vehicle battery simulators with power variations of 22 watts, 44 watts, and 66 watts. In the application using only 66 watts heat pipe reduced the battery surface temperature from 86.9 ℃ to 45.1 ℃ while in the application of heat pipe and PCM reduced the temperature from 86.9 ℃ to 39.6 ℃. With this combination of using heat pipes and paraffin wax can be used as a battery cooler.
