The need for hot water in everyday life is indispensable for industrial, hospital and household needs, due to the large demand for hot water, one idea emerged, namely a heat pump water heater assisted by solar energy which was designed which mainly consists of an evaporator panel with a surface area of 0.23 m2, a rotary compressor with an input power of 1/6 PK, an insulated water tank which has a condenser with a diameter of ¼ inch long and 15 m long and a capillary tube with a diameter of 1 mm 1.61 m long.
In this test tool, the condenser is wrapped around the tank to prevent leakage. This test aims to find the coefficient of performance (COP) using two test equipment, namely a capacity of 30 liters and a capacity of 60 liters, this test was carried out for 5 days in sunny weather conditions. The results obtained in testing a capacity of 30 liters and a capacity of 60 liters, where the highest coefficient of performance (COP) was obtained at a capacity of 60 liters, namely 2.46 and a capacity of 30 liters, 1.25.
The solar energy assisted heat pump water heating system will be better when used in outdoor conditions which are exposed to direct sunlight. The higher intensity of solar radiation has a positive effect on the performance of the solar energy assisted heat pump water heating system. The ambient temperature is not too high. effect on the performance of the heat pump water heater system assisted by solar energy is not like the influence of the intensity of solar radiation.
