Selektivitas Alat Tangkap Jaring Insang Di Desa Pangkalan Terap Kecamatan Teluk Meranti Kabupaten Pelalawan
Abstact
Gill net is one of the fishing gears operating in the waters of Pangkalan Terap Village. This study aims to determine the selectivity of mesh size and catch of gill net fishing gear. This research was conducted in May 2022 in Pangkalan Terap Village, Teluk Meranti District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province. The method used is experimental fishing method, which is a method that uses a sample of objects to be observed. The results of this study indicate that there are 6 types of fish species caught on mesh size 2.5 inches and 3 inches, namely wajang (Cyclocheillichthys spp), juara (Pangasius Polyranodon), sepongkah (Parambassis Wolfii), selais (Cryptopterus spp), baung (Mystus Nemurus) and tawes (Barbonymus Gonionotus). The dominant fish caught in both meshes was wajang fish which amounted to 58 fish or 40% of the total catch with a total length of 26 - 37.5 cm, fork length 24 - 34.5 cm, height 7 - 12.5 cm and weight 185 - 560 g. The difference in mesh size was not very large. The difference in mesh was not too great in both the total catch and the average fork length of the fish caught. The most selective gill net is a gill net with a mesh size of 3 inches, this is because the mesh size captures larger fish that are worth catching and can pass small fish.
