Pengaruh Wadah Kultur Yang Berbeda Dengan Media Limbah Cair Kelapa Sawit Terhadap Pertumbuhan Dan Produksi Biomassa Chlorella Sp. Skala Semi Massal
Abstract
Oil palm liquid waste has a high nutrient content so it can be used for the
growth of Chlorella sp. microalgae. To determine the effect of different culture
containers on growth and biomass production of Chlorella sp. a study was
conducted from December 2022–February 2023. The containers used were
Stainless Steel Containers (WSS) and Plastic Bottle Containers (WBP).
Parameters measured were cell abundance (once/two days), biomass (at the
exponential peak phase), (temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen (once/two days)),
(nitrate and phosphate (at the beginning, at the exponential peak phase and at the
end of the study)). The results shown that abundance cells at WSS was 6,12 x 106
cells/ml on day 15 and biomass was 1,43 g/L, while abundance cells at WBP was
2,66 x 106 cells/ml on day 7 and biomass 0,33 g/L. Total biomass production in
150 L at WSS and WBP yielded 214,5 g and 49,5 g respectively. Growth of
Chlorella sp. followed by utilization of nitrate and phosphate concentrations, in
WSS and WBP respectively 87% and 73% utilization of nitrate and 94% and 91%
utilization of phosphate. Water quality parameters in both containers such as
temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen (DO) are classified as capable of
supporting the growth of Chlorella sp. Based on the data obtained indicate that
cell abundance and biomass production in WSS are higher than WBP, which
means that different culture containers affect the growth and biomass production
of Chlorella sp.
