ABSTRACT
Development of industrial plantation forest, especially in Sumatra Acacia crassicarpa species, to meet the raw material requirements of the pulp and paper. Acacia crassicarpa nursery especially those at PT RAPP Estate Pelalawan, pest attacks were found of Spodoptera litura F. Chemical pesticides are often used to control these pests. But it has many negative effects, alternative control is using of botanical pesticides from Swietenia mahagoni and Carica papaya L. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of a combination of Swietenia mahagoni and Carica papaya L. extracts in controlling the nursery Spodoptera litura F. pest of Acacia crassicarpa. Randomized completely design was used in this study with 5 treatments and 4 replications, further tests will be carried out using DNMRT at the 5% level. The combination treatment of Swietenia mahagoni extract and Carica papaya L. extract used was 100% Swietenia mahagoni extract, 100% Carica papaya L. extract, 50% Swietenia mahagoni extract + 50% Carica papaya L. extract, 75% Swietenia mahagoni extract + 25 % Carica papaya L. extract, 25% Swietenia mahagoni extract + Carica papaya L. extract 75%. The observed in this study include initial time of death, lethal time, and total mortality. The results showed that the combination of Swietenia mahagoni extract and Carica papaya L. was effective and tends to be the best in combination of 50% Swietenia mahagoni extract + 50% Carica papaya L. with results initial death time of 1.35 hours, lethal time (LT50) 2,20 hours and a total mortality of 100%.
