Peranan Orang Tua Dalam Menumbuhkan Kemandirian Pada Anak Tunanetra Di Rumahnya Kelurahan Rejosari Kecamatan Tenayan Raya Kota Pekanbaru

The formulation of the problem of this research is what are the roles of parents in fostering independence in blind children in their homes in Rejosari Village, Tenayan Raya District, Pekanbaru City? This study aims to find out the role of parents in fostering independence in blind children in their homes in Rejosari Village, Tenayan Raya District, Pekanbaru City. This research has 3 sub-focuses, namely the role of parents as mentors, the role of parents as motivators and the role of parents as facilitators.
After this research is conducted, it is expected to provide benefits. The benefits of this research are divided into: Theoretical benefits, which are expected to add insight and knowledge, especially those related to the role of parents in fostering independence in blind children. Meanwhile, the practical benefits are expected to be useful for the community, readers and also for future researchers.
This research uses qualitative research with descriptive methods. This research was conducted at the home of parents of blind children who are located in Rejosari Village, Tenayan Raya Subdistrict, Pekanbaru City which involved 7 informants. Data collection techniques in this study used documentation, observation and interview techniques. While for research data analysis includes data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing, and triangulation.
Based on the results of data analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that the role of parents in fostering independence in blind children at home in Rejosari Village, Tenayan Raya District, Pekanbaru City is the role of parents as mentors, the role of parents as motivators and the role of parents as facilitators. This can be
seen from the role of parents as mentors who always guide their children in every matter such as guiding children to learn to wear clothes, wear shoes and so on. In the role of parents as motivators, it can be seen that parents always encourage children and always support all positive children's activities.
In the role of parents as facilitators, it can be seen that parents do not provide any facilities for their children, even the tools obtained such as sticks and reglets are obtained from schools. It can also be seen that if parents always spend time with children, it can be done by inviting children out of the house or inviting them to play in the park so that the child can feel the new atmosphere outside.
Based on the results of research and discussion of the Role of Parents in Fostering Independence in Blind Children at Home in Rejosari Village, Tenayan Raya District, Pekanbaru City, researchers can recommend the following:
1. It is recommended for parents to be able to continue to embrace the blind child and continue to guide him in everything so that the child can maintain his life later.
2. It is recommended to the community not to demean children with special needs, preferably the community can embrace and support children with special needs.
3. It is recommended to future researchers to be able to develop it using different benchmarks so that later the research can become a more accurate reference for future researchers and can involve the role of the parents of blind children and produce good feed back.
