Pengaruh Penambahan Dregs Dalam Campuran Mortar Terhadap Karakteristik Dan Mutu Mortar
ABSTRACT
Dregs is one of solid wastes that was produced from clarification green liquor
from recausticizing plant unit on the pulp process. The use of dregs waste of the mortar
mixing is expected to reduce the solid waste problems in the pulp and paper industry.
This research was conducted to know the dregs influence additive in the mortar mixing
against mortar characteristicts and mortar quality.
On this research, dregs was added with 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% variation of
cement weight. Preliminary test on the base materials such as sand and dregs was
attended to verify the material characteristicts that was used on the mortar process.
Then, the compressive strength, absorption, porosity, and specific gravity tests were
conducted.
The test result show the compressive strength increase 11,09% from normal
mortar (15,253 MPa) by using 5% dregs of cement weight with compressive strength
(16,945 MPa) at age 28 days. The high compressive strength was obtained for this
mortar if the absorption, porosity are small and the high specific gravity. Based on this
research, the compressive strength of mortar at age 28 day, dregs could be used as
additive of mortar mixing with the additional variation until 20% of cement weight.
