Pemanfaatan Kayu Mindi (Melia azedarach Linn) dan Pelepah Sawit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) Terhadap Mutu Briket Sebagai Rancangan Handout Pada Materi Bioteknologi Konvensional Sma
Abstract:
This research aims to determine the quality of briquettes using mindi wood and palm fronds with tapioca flour adhesive and develop handouts on conventional high school biotechnology materials. The research was conducted from December 2022 to May 2023 at the Biology Education Laboratory and Mechanical Engineering Laboratory, Riau University. The research method used was a non- factorial completely randomized design (CRD) using 6 treatments with a comparison of the composition of mindi wood and palm fronds. The process of making briquettes is carried out in the stages of collecting raw materials, carbonization process, size reduction, kneading the ingredients, molding the briquettes, drying and testing the quality of the briquettes through tests for water content, ash, heat and density. The research results showed that briquettes using the composition of mindi wood and palm fronds in treatment D with a raw material composition of 40% mindi wood and 60% palm fronds were the best treatment, had a water content of 5.83%, ash content of 6.83%, a calorific value of 6416.63 cal/g and a density of 1.04 g/cm3 which meets Indonesian national standards for briquette products. The handouts produced from the research results can be used as teaching materials to help students learn conventional biotechnology concepts for class XII high school students.
