ABSTRACT

Butterflies are insects from the Order Lepidoptera with the Suborder Rhopalocera which are diurnal (active during the day). This suborder is related to the suborder Heterocera, namely moths. Butterflies have an important role in the ecological aspect, namely as bioindicators to see the quality of air in an environment. In the ecosystem, butterflies have a role as pollinators in the flower pollination process. Butterflies use nectar from plants as the main food source, thus helping the natural reproduction of plants in an ecosystem.
The aim of this research is to determine the diversity of butterflies in the Taman Bunga Impian Okura Rumbai and to integrate the results of this research to be used as a Handout Draft for Biodiversity material for class X high school biology learning. This research was conducted in May-July 2023 This research consists of two stages. The first stage is that butterfly samples are taken directly at the Taman Bunga Impian Okura Rumbai, then the samples are identified. The second stage is designing a handout by integrating the results of research on the diversity of butterflies in the Taman Bunga Impian Okura Rumbai.
This phase I research uses an exploratory method in collecting data and uses a Purposive Random Sampling technique by looking at environmental characteristics. The butterfly fishing area is 4.5 ha. There are 3 butterfly catching areas, namely, flower gardens, fruit gardens and grass and bushes. This research was carried out at the Okura Dream Flower Garden. Butterfly catching was carried out in the morning and evening considering the butterfly activity time for 7 days. There are 2 research parameters, namely the main parameters (Type Composition (Pi) and Diversity (H') and supporting parameters (air temperature, air humidity, light intensity). Phase II research handout design uses the ADDIE model, with 3 stages, namely, the analysis stage, design and development.
Of all the fishing areas, the most common type of butterfly found is the Junonia atlites species from the Nymphalidae family. This is because butterflies from this family have the largest number of species and the widest distribution compared to butterflies from other families, and are also supported by food sources that are abundantly available and also the nature of butterflies which are polyphagous, so they can live in various habitat types. The Taman Bunga Impian Okura Rumbai is very suitable both in terms of food availability and environmental conditions which also support the survival of butterflies very well.
The conclusion of this research is that the diversity of butterflies in the Taman Bunga Impian Okura Rumbai was found to be 3 families, 16 species and 186 individuals, with a diversity index in the flower garden area of 2.48. In the orchard area with an index of 2.35 and the grass and shrub area with an index of 2.44. The butterfly diversity index in the Taman Bunga Impian Okura Rumbai is classified as moderate, which means that the area in the Taman Bunga Impian Okura Rumbai still has a good and balanced ecosystem with a diversity index of 2.42. The results of the butterfly diversity data in the Taman Bunga Impian Okura Rumbai can be used as a handout design and used as a learning resource in class X phase E high school biodiversity material.
