Gambaran Klinis Dan Laboratoris Pasien Malaria Yang Di Rawat Di Rumah Sakit Bhayangkara Pekanbaru Periode 2021 – 2022
Malaria is a tropical infectious disease caused by protozoa of the genus Plasmodium sp and transmitted through the bite of female Anopheles mosquitoes. Malaria is an acute or chronic disease. In Indonesia, from 2021 to 2022, there was an increase in malaria cases, one of which was in Riau Province. This study aims to determine the clinical and laboratory features of malaria patients treated at Bhayangkara Pekanbaru Hospital for 2021 - 2022. This study is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach using medical record data with a sample of malaria patients hospitalized from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2022, totaling 25 patients and 35 cases. The study's results of demographic characteristics obtained the highest age of patients 26 - 45 years; all patients were male with a history of traveling to endemic areas. The result of the clinical picture obtained fever, chills 80%, nausea 54%, headache 63%, and the most episodes of malaria once. The laboratory results of malaria patients showed normal hemoglobin, thrombocytopenia 74%, normal SGOT and SGPT, and blood smear examination caused most by Plasmodium vivax 51%, Plasmodium falciparum. The results of the evaluation of patient management following WHO treatment guidelines were 69%.
