The development of technology and information is a supporting means for developing learning innovation, especially in the development of learning media products. The use of technology as a form of learning media in the teaching and learning process in the classroom has become a necessity in the modern era. However, the use of media such as experimental tools currently available is still mostly conventional, and has not yet kept up with the demands of the digital era. Therefore, it is necessary to develop digital-based experimental tools using an Arduino microcontroller, as a first step to innovate in learning, so that it can overcome limitations in stimulating and building student knowledge.
The main objective to be achieved from this research is to determine the validity and practicality of an Arduino microcontroller-based pendulum and spring experimental tool along with student worksheets developed on simple harmonic vibration material.
The research method used in this research is Research and Development (R&D) research using the ADDIE development model. The model adopted in this research was not carried out in a complex manner, but was only carried out in a limited manner at three development stages, namely Analysis, Design and Development. The data source in this research is the validation assessment scores given by three expert lecturers in the PMIPA, FKIP, Riau University as validators in the form of quantitative and practical data given by practitioners obtained from 3 teachers and 10 students in class XI of SMA Negeri 4 Pekanbaru.
This development research produced a set of pendulum and spring experimental tools as well as student worksheets that have been validated by validators which show that the validity results for each aspect of the V index assessment are in the range of 0.4 to 1 with the overall average of the experimental tool validity results getting a value of 0.96 in the very valid category. Then the overall average of the validity results of the students' worksheets obtained a value of 0.95 for the pendulum experiment, 0.97 for the spring experiment, and 0.96 for the restoring force worksheet with all categories being very valid. Next, practicality is carried out as a form of limited trial by teachers and students. As a result of the practicality of the experimental tools, teachers obtained an overall average score of 0.99 and students obtained an overall average score of 0.91. In addition, the practicality results for students' worksheets were obtained by teachers with an overall average score of 0.96 on each LKPD, and by students obtained an overall average score of 0.88 for the pendulum experiment, 0.90 for the spring experiment, and 0.89 for the restoring force LKPD in the very practical category.
Based on the discussion of research results on the development of pendulum and spring experimental tools based on an Arduino microcontroller as well as student worksheets on simple harmonic vibration material, through the results of the average score for the V index assessment, it can be concluded that it is very valid and practical to be applied as a learning medium in schools.
