Pengaruh Pemberian Em-4 Terhadap Laju Dekomposisi Limbah Tandan Kosong Kelapa Sawit (TKKS) Sebagai Rancangan Handout Pada Materi Bioteknologi DI SMA
Elaeis guineensis jacq) is one of the plantation commodities that has an important role in Indonesia. The area of oil palm plantations in Indonesia reaches 8,992,824 ha with the largest oil palm area in Riau province which reaches 2,103,175 ha and the production of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) is 36,809,252 tons per year. Empty oil palm fruit bunches have a chemical composition of 45.95% cellulose, 22.84% hemicellulose, 16.49% lignin, 2.41% oil and 1.23% ash. So far, the use of empty oil palm fruit bunches is very limited, namely open dumping and burning in incinerators. Burning with an incinerator can cause air pollution because burning empty bunches in an incinerator produces fly ash.
This research aims to determine the effect of applying EM-4 on the rate of decomposition of empty oil palm fruit bunches (TKKS) and the potential for the results of this research to be integrated as teaching materials in the form of handout designs on biotechnology materials in high school class X Semester II. This research consisted of two stages, namely stage I, experimental research in the field with quantitative descriptive analysis to determine the effect of giving EM-4 on the rate of decomposition of empty oil palm fruit bunches (TKKS) using drum and bokasi techniques. This research was conducted in July-November at a compost shop located in the biology education laboratory, FKIP, University of Riau
The tools used in this research include: hoes, writing instruments, analytical scales, thermometers, soil testers, spectrophotometers, flamephotometers, chopping machines, scales, wire sieves, hoes, small drums, 3 x 3 m tarpaulins, drums, buckets, stove and pan and camera and the materials used in this research are TKKS fiber, molasses, water, rice husks, goat manure, EM-4 and brown sugar. The procedures in this research include media making, molasses making, material collection, compost making process, parameters and measurement methods.
The measurement parameters are decomposition rate, pH, temperature, humidity, compost color and C/N ratio. and the second stage of this research was to design a handout with a flow of analysis, design and development. Based on the analysis of the results in this study, giving EM-4 affects the decomposition rate of empty oil palm fruit bunch waste. The bokasi technique is the best media in the composting process which is carried out for 40 days with an average decomposition rate of 1.47 g/day. The results of the effect of giving EM-4 on the rate of decomposition of empty oil palm bunch waste can be used as teaching material in the form of handout plans using the CTL (contextual teaching and learning) model on Biology technology innovation material in high school class X semester II.
The administration of EM4 affects the rate of decomposition of empty oil palm fruit bunch solid waste, using bokasi media composting and drum media composting techniques. The highest average value of decomposition rate was found in box media, 1.47 g/day, and drum, 1.31 g/day. The results of research on the decomposition rate of campus solid waste can be used as teaching material in the for m of handouts on technological innovation material
