Pengaruh Variasi Waktu Hidrotermal Pada Sintesis Zeolit Dari Lempung Maredan Untuk Adsorben Ion Pb2+ Dan Studi Kinetika Adsorpsi
Maredan clay located in the western part of Maredan Village, Siak Regency, Riau Province has potential as a raw material for zeolite synthesis. This study aims to determine the characteristics of the synthesized zeolite and determine the optimum contact time of zeolite in adsorbing lead (II) ions. Zeolite synthesis was carried out using hydrothermal alkali fusion method with time variation of 5, 6, 20, 24, 36 and 48 hours. Zeolites were characterized using XRD, FTIR, adsorptivity test against lead (II) ions using ICP-OES instrument and determining adsorption kinetics model. The results of XRD characterization showed that the synthesis of zeolite with hydrothermal time variation at 100℃ showed typical sodalite peaks appearing around 2θ (˚) = 14.16; 24.65 and 31.99. Typical peaks of zeolite A (LTA) appeared at 2θ (˚) = 27.11; 34.18 and 42.85. The highest percentage of sodalite crystallinity was obtained at 6 hours hydrothermal time which amounted to 27.45%. The highest percentage of zeolite A crystallinity was obtained at a hydrothermal time of 20 hours which amounted to 15.18%. FTIR results showed the presence of external vibrations of the D4R or D6R double ring at wave numbers 500-650 cm-1. The optimum contact time was obtained at 120 minutes with adsorption efficiency and capacity of 99.85% and 95.76 mg/g. The adsorption kinetics model in this study followed the second-order pseudo with R2 = 0.999 and K2 = 0.0164 g/mg min.
