Pengaruh Interactive Engagement Strategy Berbantuan Quizizz terhadap Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Peserta didik pada Materi Ikatan Kimia
This research was motivated by chemistry learning problems related to the classroom. Additionally, students often face difficulties in solving problems when the question format deviates from the example solutions provided by the teacher. The purpose of this research is to analyze the effectiveness of an interactive engagement strategy assisted by Quizizz on students' critical thinking abilities concerning chemical bonding material.
The research utilized a quasi-experimental design since not all factors influencing learning can be controlled. The study involved two experimental classes: the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class received treatment in the form of an interactive engagement strategy using Quizizz, while the control class received conventional model treatment. The sampling technique employed in this research was purposive sampling, considering the homogeneity of the sample (class). The samples from the experimental and control classes comprised 29 students from Class X at MAN 1, Pekanbaru.
Based on the results of calculating the level of students' critical thinking ability when learning through the Interactive Engagement Strategy with Quizizz on chemical bonding material, it is evident that the overall ability of students to tackle questions falls within the high category at 66.2. The results of the Independent Sample T-Test statistical test, with a significance value (sig) of 0.000, lead to the conclusion that there is a significant difference in critical thinking abilities between the experimental class and control class students.The average gain score for critical thinking skills in the experimental class (0.50 or 50%) was categorized as medium, while the control class only reached 0.30 (30%), falling into the low category. This finding suggests a more significant increase in learning outcomes for critical thinking skills in the experimental class compared to the control class. Overall, these findings strongly support the effectiveness of interventions implemented in experimental classes in improving students' critical thinking abilities.
