Pepatah-Petitih Panghulu Masyarakat Minangkabau Suku Koto: Analisis Semantik Kognitif

This study uses the form of image schema based on the theory of Hermandra (2015: 45) and Cruse &; Croft (2004: 45) as the main analysis. The purpose of the study was to group maxims related to the Minangkabau tribe into the form of image schemes which are key conceptual structures in the field of cognitive semantic science. The data and data sources in this study were studied through a literature study approach derived from the book"Penghulu dan Filosofi Pakaian Kebesaran: Konsep Kepemimpinan Tradisional Minangkabau" written by Agusti Efi Marthala in 2014. The method of data collection and analysis is carried out by reading, recording, collecting data and grouping data into forms of image schemes. The results of the study found 26 maxims divided into 8 of 10 groups of image schemes. The form of image schema found from this study consists of 6 image schema of unity/multiplicity, 3 image schema of source-path-goal, 6 image schema of force, 5 image schema of hierarchial, 1 image schema of space, 2 image schema of container, 2 image schema of existence and 1 image schema of colour. Data from this study found no form of image schema scale and image schema of identity. The implications of the results of this study can contribute to the development of a more comprehensive leadership model, as well as provide a foundation for understanding the values and norms underlying traditional leadership in the Minangkabau Tribe.
