Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Siswa Dalam Pembelajaran Biologi Ditinjau Dari Kecerdasan Emosional Dan Motivasi Berprestasi
Problem solving ability is a skill needed in the 21st century for various fields so as not to be left behind by developments over time. This modern development not only requires students to master the concept of biology as one of the natural sciences studied, but also requires students to be able to solve problems. Problem solving skills are needed by students to solve problems precisely, carefully, systematically, logically and effectively in everyday life. Today's students' problem solving abilities are closely related to emotional intelligence, because the ability to monitor and control one's own feelings and other people's use of these feelings guides the mind to influence the level of problem solving abilities. The higher the student's level of emotional intelligence, the higher the student's problem solving ability. So it can be said that emotional intelligence is intelligence that is very necessary for achievement.
This research was carried out in October-November 2023 on State High School students in Pekanbaru. This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. This research aims to determine the level of students' problem solving abilities in biology learning, the level of emotional intelligence and the level of achievement motivation. The variables in this research include the independent variables (X1 and X2) and the dependent variable (Y). The independent variable (X1) in this research is emotional intelligence, (X2) achievement motivation and the dependent variable (Y) is the problem solving ability experienced by students in learning biology. The aim of this research is to see how emotional intelligence and achievement motivation relate to problem solving abilities. By applying a quantitative approach and survey methods we can achieve this goal.
The research results show that the level of students' problem solving abilities in biology learning is mostly in good condition. This illustrates that students are able to understand problems well and determine appropriate solutions to overcome problems in everyday life. The level of emotional intelligence of State High School students in Pekanbaru is in the medium category. This indicates that students have a fairly good level of emotional intelligence, where students are able to control, manage and be aware of their own emotions when analyzing and solving problems. The level of achievement motivation of State High School students in Pekanbaru is in the medium category, this also shows that achievement motivation is quite good.
Overall, there is a correlation between students' problem solving abilities in biology learning at State High Schools in Pekanbaru with emotional intelligence and achievement motivation, indicating that there is a simulative relationship. Emotional intelligence and achievement motivation provide a very strong and positive influence. This means that if emotional intelligence and achievement motivation increase, students' problem solving abilities in biology learning at State High Schools in Pekanbaru will also increase. On the other hand, if emotional intelligence and achievement motivation decrease, students' problem solving abilities in biology learning at State High Schools in Pekanbaru will also decrease.
