Sapat Village is one of the villages in Kuala Indragiri District, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province. Geographically, Sapat Village is located between 0º.33'5151 North latitude and 103º.36'95.12" East Longitude. The people of Sapat Village used to make a living as coconut plantation farmers. The geographical conditions changed drastically when climate change occurred, causing the height of the tide to rise so that the plantation area was damaged by tidal flooding. Mangrove communities that grow in areas affected by tidal flooding become ideal habitats for various types of marine life, including mangrove crabs (Scylla sp). The community utilizes mangrove crabs as an alternative livelihood using pento fishing gear. Pento is a static fishing gear that requires bait in its operation. The study aims to determine the type of bait that is most suitable to be applied to pento fishing gear so as to increase community catches. This research uses the Experimental Fishing method, data were collected using the RAK technique. RAK is an experimental design used for field research in which experimental units are divided into several heterogeneous groups. After the data was collected, the data was analyzed using one way ANOVA technique. The results showed that of the 3 types of bait used namely malong, tobacco, and chicken intestine, the highest average catch was chicken intestine bait.
