Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Discovery Learning Terhadap Kemandirian Belajar Siswa Pada Mata Pelajaran PPKN Kelas VIII Di SMP Negeri 1 Logas Tanah Darat
This research is motivated by the low level of student learning independence. This is caused by several factors, including the application of conventional learning methods, namely using the lecture method in the form of delivering material with students only as recipients of information. Therefore, researchers are interested in researching to find out the effect of the discovery learning model on student learning independence by going directly into the field and knowing the real conditions.
The formulation of the problem in this research is whether there is an influence of the discovery learning model on student learning independence in class VIII Civics subjects at SMP Negeri 1 Logas Tanah Darat. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of the discovery learning model on student learning independence in class VIII PPKn subjects at SMP Negeri 1 Logas Tanah Darat. A learning model is a learning pattern or plan that is used as a benchmark by teachers to design or plan classroom learning, which includes learning objectives, learning steps, learning situations, and classroom management. The benefit of this research is that it can be used as a reference for other teachers in carrying out learning activities at school and adds insight and new knowledge that can be used as a study by solving the same problems.
This research is a quantitative type of experimental research using a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The data collection method in this research is using observation sheets, questionnaires and documentation. The population in this study was class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Logas Tanah Darat consisting of 44 students and the sample in this study was taken as a whole from the population, namely 44 students, namely classes VIII A and VIII B.
The discovery learning learning model has an influence on student learning independence because it obtains Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 at a significance level of 5% or 0.000 ≤ 0.05 then Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. So it can be concluded that the discovery learning model has an effect on student learning independence in class VIII Civics subjects at SMP Negeri 1 Logas Tanah Darat by obtaining an average learning independence of 87.89 in the experimental class and an average learning independence of 73.22 in the control class. Based on the results of the N-Gain test, the N-Gain for the experimental class was 0.71 in the high category and the control class obtained an N-Gain of 0.39 in the medium category. Based on the results of the N-Gain test, it was concluded that the use of the discovery learning model in the experimental class was more effective in increasing student learning independence compared to the use of the lecture method in the control class.
