This research is research entitled Writing Ability Short story text for Class IX students of SMP Negeri 2 Ukui. As for internal problems. This research is about the ability to write short story texts for class IX students. Ukui 2 Public Middle School? This research aims to describe abilities writing short story texts for class IX students of SMP Negeri 2 Ukui in terms of aspects of content, organization and presentation, and language. This type of research is quantitative research. Method used. In this research, it is a quantitative descriptive method according to needs writer to measure the short story text writing ability of class IX SMP students Negeri 2 Ukui. This research uses population and samples. Population in this research were class IX students of SMP Negeri 2 Ukui consisting of 5 classes namely classes IX-A, IX-B, IX-C, IX-D, and IX-E. The sample in this research is 116 students. The data used in this research are text writing scores short story of class IX students of SMP Negeri 2 Ukui. The research results show that The ability to write short story texts for class IX students at SMP Negeri 2 Ukui is categorized "medium" with an average score of 66. In the content aspect, an average score of 73 was obtained with the medium category, the organizational and presentation aspects obtained an average value 65 in the medium category, and in the language aspect with an average score of 59 with the low category.
