Analisis Efektivitas Metode Customer Base Dan Metode Branching Dalam Perancangan Jaringan Fiber To The Home Pada Cluster Air Hitam 2
Fiber optic is a communication medium known for its excellent and stable performance. One of its implementations in society is the Fiber to the Home (FTTH) network. This research aims to compare two methods of FTTH construction based on the PT.PLN Icon Plus standards, namely the customer base method and the branching method, to determine the most effective method for implementation in the Air Hitam 2 cluster. In this study, two scenarios were conducted using 1:8 and 1:16 splitters at the Fiber Access Terminal (FAT). The results of the fiber optic cable path design show that the branching method is an effective choice with a total usage of optical fiber cables along 9 km and the longest cable distance from the Optical Line Terminal (OLT) to the end FAT is 2.5 km. With an OLT transmit power of 3 dB, it results in the optical power received by the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) based on the theory in the 1:8 splitter scenario and 1:16 splitter scenario at -16.03 dBm and -19.13 dBm, respectively. The simulation results for these scenarios are -17.98 dBm and -20.27 dBm. Furthermore, the rise time budget value reaches 0.253 ns, the Q factor values in the 1:8 splitter scenario and 1:16 splitter scenario are 11.014 and 6.18233, respectively, and the bit error rate values in the 1:8 splitter scenario and 1:16 splitter scenario are 1,6 × 10−28 and 3,1 × 10−10. These results indicate that the branching method can provide good performance based on both theoretical and simulation.
